Today we took a picture of Giovanni da Verrazzano, we each choose a piece of the picture and drew that part of it. We made it 4 times the size of the picture on a piece of paper. in art we made drawings that have a design that is repeated, mine is donuts.
In Music today, we listened to North Carolina music from a long time ago. We had papers and we wrote down stuff that we thought about the song and answered some questions about the song. Some of the music artists we listened to were Doc Watson (not actually sure if that's the man's last name), Elizabeth Cotton and Mahalia Jackson. I thought the music was absolutely phenomenal! After Music class and picture time, we sung our song of the week, Let it be, on our third day of singing that song it already sounds great.
Today at school during History, our class learned about a man named Giovanni da Verrazzano, and how he wrote a letter to the king of France on his voyage to Cape Fear, N.C. Once Giovanni and his crew got to land, they were greeted by natives and he wrote to the king how the natives gazed up at him as though he was a god, though they did not know that Giovanni was a bad man. He'd also taken a woman's child home to France,
In writing we wrote about our bread tradition and talked about "partner sentences." In reading we finished Bud NOT Buddy and didn't get to do our last book discussion on Bud not Buddy. We made a booklet about NC and learned about the native americans and how they migrated from Siberia to north america. In art we are working on drawing movement, depth, and repetition.
